Bushwalking

Being located in the middle of the Talawahl Nature Reserve and Kiwarrak State Forest, we have 16,600 hectares of bush paradise to explore. Just outside our entrance is “Gracies Loop”, a challenging 1 hour loop winding through sections of remnant rainforest. To access some easier walks, simply turn left out of our property and follow Coates road to take in the wonders.

There are fire trails winding throughout the area to suit the most intrepid walkers. Make your way up to “Breakneck Lookout” for stunning views of the coastline and surrounding hills. Be sure to bring some sturdy shoes and a sense of adventure!

Bird Watching

For those with a keen eye for our feathery friends, we have an exhaustive list of the species you may spot within and surrounding Clarendon Forest Retreat. The regeneration after the bushfires has been quite something to behold.

Mountain Biking

Most only dream of a mountain bike holidays like this – some of the fastest, most extensive and challenging trails in Australia. The surrounding forest features thousands of trails, crisscrossing thousands of acres of untouched National and State park.

Horse Riding

Sowter Equestrian is a short 5 minute drive from Clarendon Forest Retreat and offer trail rides through Talawahl Nature Reserve for all experience levels. Prices start at $130 per person for an hour and a half ride (minimum two guests) which includes instruction from their experienced team members. Longer rides and personalised experiences are available on request. Please note children under the age of 7 are not able to join trail rides and those under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. There is also a maximum weight restriction of 100kg.

Sowter Equestrian offers their expertise in the Equine Industry in the areas of equine nutrition, behaviour, training and provides education for people of all ages and abilities. Sowter Equestrian provides a pathway of opportunities for people to understand horses. They promote horse welfare and rehabilitation as well as support the growth of confidence, independence and self-discipline in riders to give a positive experience with their horse.

Tennis court, racquets and balls, basketball, soccer goals and ball, and badminton set are all supplied free of charge.

Swimming

As well as the spas in each cottage Clarendon offers a 12 metre fibreglass salt water pool for our guests exclusive enjoyment. Gaze over the surrounding tree covered hills and valleys and enjoy a refreshing swim. The pool is open September School Holidays – May.

Stargazing

The southern night sky contains a greater range of interesting features than does the northern. This is true for both naked eye and telescope observing. The southern sky claims the three brightest stars (Sirius, Canopus, and Alpha Centauri) and the best examples of almost every type of astronomical object.
